The first signs of varicose veins is a swelling along the course of the veins. This may be followed by muscular cramps and a feeling of tiredness in the legs behind the knees. Both conditions cause severe pain.

With age, the elasticity of the walls along the veins are weakened which stretches the veins.

Hormonal changes within the body during pregnancy and menopause relaxes the walls of the veins. In addition, during pregnancy the veins may receive extra pressure from the expanding uterus (womb) causing dilation. Also, the use of birth control pills or estrogen replacement therapy alters the female hormone levels which might lead to varicose veins.

Deep vein thrombosis (economy-class syndrome), a blood clot in the deep vein.

Obesity and lifting heavy objects are also contributing factors.

Varicose veins can show up as a result of liver disease.

What is Hydrocele? / Hydrocele Definition:-

Hydrocele is a common condition of men in which there is accumulation of fluid in the tunica virginals, the sac which surrounds the testicle. Each gland is composed of myriads of coiled tubes in which the sperm cells are produced. It is the function of these cells to fertilize the ovum.

Hydrocele Symptoms Signs:-

The main symptom of Hydrocele is painless, smooth and elastic enlargement of the scrotum. In some cases swelling is so much as to cause a great deal of inconvenience interfering greatly with walking. Consequently it may produce a great deal of pressure upon the testicles and the spermatic vessels causing a detrimental effect upon the generative system. The Hydrocele is translucent. If a bright light is placed upon it in the dark the whole swelling lights up if the swelling become painful, it usually denotes that it has become infected.

Hydrocele Causes Risk Factors:-

The apparent cause of Hydrocele may be a knock or a strain but toxic condition of the system is usually at the root of the matter. This systemic toxicity results from wrong dietary habits, general wrong living and suppressive medical treatment of former diseases. Sometimes gonorrhoel infection, obstruction of the abdominal vein, tuberculosis and dropsy may be the cause of this condition. Hydrocele sometimes exists at birth. In this case swelling is seen when the infant is an upright position and disappears when the infant is laid upon its back. Hydrocele usually disappears by itself in infants.

Hydrocele Home Treatments Remedy Cure:-

Tapping is the method usually resorted to for removal of the fluid in Hydrocele. This, however, does not remove the cause of the trouble but only its effects. The correct way in which the condition can be really dealt with successfully is through constitutional treatment. Such a treatment should aim at removing the underlying toxicity of the system which is at the root of the trouble. The sufferer from Hydrocele should begin with an exclusive fresh fruit diet for seven to ten days. In this regimen, he should have three meals a day of fresh juicy fruits, such as apples, pears, grapes, grape-fruit, oranges, pineapple, peaches, melon or any other juicy fruit in season but no bananas or dried, stewed or tinned fruit, and no other foodstuff whatever. For drinks, lemon water unsweetened or water either hot or cold may be taken.

During this period the bowels should be cleansed daily with a warm water enema. If constipation is habitual, all steps should be taken for its eradication. After all all-fruit diet the patient may adopt the following regimen:

Breakfast: Fresh fruit as obtainable, or grated raw carrot or other raw salad-stuff, prunes or other dried fruits, if desired, and a cup of milk.

Lunch: Steamed vegetables, as obtainable, with either a poached or scrambled egg.

Dinner: A good-sized raw salad, of any suitable vegetable as obtainable, with whole wheat bread and butter, and prunes or other dried fruits as dessert.

Peptic Ulcer PUD

Peptic ulcer is the medical term used to describe both Gastric Ulcer and Duodenal Ulcer. Ulcer is a sore, a lesion that is open and is fond either on the skin or the parts of the body covered by mucous. A proper lifestyle may reduce the symptoms of a peptic ulcer.

(1) Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID)

(2) Stress-related mucosal damage (Stress ulcers)

(3) Helicobacter pylori (HP)-associated ulcers

The most typical symptom is that of a gnawing persistent pain in the abdomen especially when the stomach is empty. Most people face a burning pain in the abdomen which also wakes them up in the nights at times.

Loss of appetite (although in the case of duodenal ulcers, it sometimes increases appetite), Belching, Weight loss, a bloated feeling, nausea, Vomiting (which is sometimes even blood), Water brash and melena (unusual and bad smelling feces).

Most people will be prescribed medicines that reduce the amount of acid in the stomach. Quitting smoking and alcohol can better your chances of recovery from peptic ulcer. Use of medicines such as aspirin, ibuprofen, or naproxen for a long term may lead to peptic ulcer.

You may never get rid of your Peptic ulcer, but at least you can have a semi-normal life and get out and live some. If you take your medications and go in for regular checkups, then hopefully your ulcer will heal.

Weight reduction is associated with normalization of hormonal disturbances and the resumption of regular ovulation. It also has a beneficial impact on the consequences of PCOS (eg, cardiovascular diseases, impaired glucose tolerance, hypertension, dyslipidemia).
For women who don't want to become pregnant, birth control pills can regulate menstrual cycles, reduce male hormone levels, and help to clear acne.

Cosmetic treatment of facial hirsutism with electroepilation and laser hair removal has also been studied and found to be beneficial.

Reproductive Medicine.

Hormone treatment to suppress ovarian activity is a reasonable choice if the patient does not want to conceive now, and is having problems with excessive hair growth.

Metformin can be taken with fertility medications and helps to make PCOS women ovulate on lower doses of medication.
